Recital FAQs!
1. Where is the recital?
Our recital is at the Thomas R. Fulghum Conference Center, just down the street from Bella Ballerina Chesterfield and a smooth 30 minute drive from Bella Ballerina Short Pump! This amazing facility has a professional-size stage with auditorium seating - it is the real deal! There is also ample parking to keep things nice and easy!
2. How long does the recital last?
The recital will last between 45-60 minutes from start to finish!
3. How much are tickets?
Tickets are $10 cash, and sold only at the door. Babies who will sit in an adult's lap are free!
4. Will there be any souvenirs for sale?
Yes, we will have flowers and other items for sale to commemorate your dancer's amazing performance!
5. Do teachers come on stage with the dancers?
Yes! There will always be at least one teacher at the corner of the stage facing the dancers and doing the dance with them, just like we do in class!
6. Can you share more about the BOPPERS recital experience?
For our youngest group of dancers, our 18 month - 2.5 year old Bella Boppers, we make a few adjustments to the recital process! As a parent or other accompanying grown-up, you will stay with your Bopper for their entire backstage experience. Grown-ups will wear all black, and will go on stage to dance with the Boppers just like we do in class! Boppers will be the very first dance in the recital. After performing, grown-ups and dancers exit the stage into the audience. You're welcome to stick around for the rest of the show OR head home for nap-time, snack-time, or whatever else these little ones need!
7. How should I do my child's hair and makeup?
We keep things simple - these are toddlers and kids, after all! We will provide a tutorial video with an easy hairstyle that works on most hair types, and some simple makeup that you're welcome to try on your dancer. If your dancer isn't feeling it this time, no problem at all - they will still SHINE on stage!
8. What will our costume look like?
We order our gorgeous high quality costumes as soon as registration closes, to ensure that we are able to secure the right sizes for all of our awesome dancers! You can see a sample costume in studio, and know that your dancer's costume will be of similar quality and beauty!
9. Are there extra rehearsals required of recital dancers?
Great news - there are no long rehearsals to add to your schedule! We do all of our rehearsing in your regularly scheduled dance class!
10. What will my dancer be doing during the recital when they're not on stage?
Dancers will be having so much fun in our backstage area! A team of Bella Ballerina staff and parent volunteers will be guiding dancers through our backstage activity stations for the entirety of the event. They'll get to go bowling, color, play hot potato, and lots of other fun activities as they prepare for their time on stage and celebrate their performance afterwards!
11. Do you need parent volunteers?
Yes, we will need 2-3 parent volunteers for each group of dancers! We will put the call out for volunteers soon after recital sign-ups close. Our volunteers get front row seats to their dancers' performances and a backstage pass to the recital experience, PLUS a few extra tickets for friends and family!
12. What are the backstage safety precautions?
As a Mom-owned business, safety is high on our mind in every part of recital planning. Here are a few steps we're taking to keep our dancers safe while their grown-ups get to enjoy the show!
- We have Bella Ballerina staff stationed at all entrances/exits of the backstage area to ensure that no unauthorized people cross into this section.
- A Bella Ballerina staff member is assigned to the bathroom area for the entirety of the event, to supervise bathroom activities.
- Grown-ups receive a custom wristband at dancer drop-off that is required before they're able to enter the dancer area for dancer pick-up.
13. If we have to miss our weekly class, are there make-up classes we can go to where they'll be practicing our same dance?
For most class times, there will be other classes doing the same dance as your dancer's class! We will send out a list with each class time's recital dance once we've closed registrations, so keep an eye out for that. You are also still welcome to do a make-up class with a different recital dance - your dancer will just root on their friends for the few minutes of class when they perform their dance. Every recital participant will also have online access to a video of their dance to practice at home outside of class!
14. My kiddo is the only recital dancer in their class. Are they going to be on stage alone?
Don't worry, there won't be any surprise solos! In this situation, we will always combine with other class times to make sure a dancer has some buddies up there with them!
